Three instructions I applied from were residual concepts, dependent pictures, and "what you know." I used Leonard Koren's Wabi-Sabi template from the spring in order to extrapolate my own views for my emblem. I discuss this further in my insights. Although Smith says this process isn't always the best route, I felt that using the template would give me and the audience a better perspective of my personal views. In the emblem section, I used dependent pictures. Most of these pictures would not make sense without the textual content. I also discussed what I know in the community, emblem, and forum sections. In fact, I think the only way to approach the emblem section is to discuss what you know. No one else knows what thought processes happen inside your mind. On an unrelated note, I also noted Smith's inclusion of images of artists' books, which appealed to me.
