My Community Story

Growing up in my family meant we moved every two and a half to three years, at least. However, most of the first ten years of my life were spent living in or visiting College Point, NY. Community

institute On July 11th, 1870, the first free kindergarten was opened to the working class families and taught in English. The Poppenhusen Institute also housed town hall, the College Point savings bank, a two-celled village jail, and a free public library. College Point had fewer hostilities among people than most factory communities of that era.
