My Community Story

Growing up in my family meant we moved every two and a half to three years, at least. However, most of the first ten years of my life were spent living in or visiting College Point, NY. This is the community I identify with. The information referenced here is from A History of College Point, N.Y. by Robert A. Hect

point As the population grew, he felt he owed the public. He built homes for rent and sale to his employees, drained marshes, brought in pure running water, paved streets, and brought in gas lines. In 1898 when College Point was incorporated into the Greater New York City, it was the only village with paved streets and a budget surplus.
